“The endless green of lotus leaves meets the sky, and the lotus flowers are exceptionally red in the sun.” Though summer arrives slowly in Canada, it eventually comes. The Quebec Confucius Institute, in collaboration with the Canadian Cultural and Art Association and the Changchun Book Friends Association, successfully hosted the first “Ink and Brush in Heart” 2023 Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Online Exhibition. The exhibition, spanning three months from February 24 to May 24, received nearly 200 submissions, including entries from China. It featured both youth and adult categories, with over 60 participants aged 5 to 19 in the youth category. Prizes were awarded for calligraphy and painting. The adult section showcased a variety of works from Canadian and Chinese artists. The exhibition also included special sections for “Precious Art” and “Chinese Bamboo Painting.” The success of this event was made possible by the support of over 30 co-organizing units, and the organizers look forward to reuniting with old and new friends in the next exhibition.
