Racing Ahead in the Dragon Boat Festival: Showcasing Cultural Diversity and Essence — Quebec Confucius Institute Team Participates in Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Event

Date: July 03, 2023

Montreal’s summer is vibrant with cultural activities. On July 1 and 2, the 6th Montreal International Dragon Boat Race and Festival was held at Jean-Drapeau Park. The Dragon Boat Festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, featured over 150 teams from Canada and the US. The Quebec Confucius Institute showcased traditional Chinese arts such as calligraphy, Go, guzheng, paper cutting, and dumpling making. Calligrapher Yuan Yun and paper-cutting artist Wang Hongmei attracted many visitors with their live demonstrations. Children eagerly participated in the dumpling-making activity. Over the two days, participants not only watched exciting dragon boat races but also deeply experienced the charm of Chinese culture. As Director Rong Meng stated, we look forward to seeing Chinese culture shine on broader stages in the future.
