On February 15, 2026, the Confucius Institute in Quebec and the Phoenix Huaxing Arts Troupe jointly presented the annual Montreal Chinese New Year Gala. Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Consul General Dai Yuming of the Chinese Consulate General in Montreal, and nearly 3,000 attendees gathered to welcome the Year of the Horse.

During the reception, Institute Director Rong Meng delivered opening remarks, while the mayor and consul general highlighted multiculturalism and China–Canada friendship. As an important local cultural brand, the gala combined artistic performance with community engagement. The Huayin Chinese Orchestra premiered its ensemble piece Xiao Ya Fu · Huayin, accompanied by multimedia soundscapes and instrument showcases to create an immersive musical experience. Cultural booths featuring calligraphy, paper cutting, and traditional crafts remained popular throughout the evening.
