Course description:
This course will train students at a post-intermediate level to further develop their Chinese language skills. The class will introduce vocabulary that is fundamental to business and provide useful and relevant dialogues and exercises. Students will not only improve their language skills but also knowledge of Chinese business culture and economic information.

Introduction to Chinese Calligraphy & Painting

Course description:
This course will introduce students to Chinese calligraphy and painting. Students will learn how to handle the brush, how to practice strokes and lines, how to use graph paper, and how to prepare the ink and painting surface. Students will learn the basic techniques required for writing a Chinese character and painting.

Intermediate Level 2

Course duration:

Level 2A: 300 hours of previous instruction or equivalent knowledge
Level 2B: 330 hours of previous instruction or equivalent knowledge
Course description:
This course will train students to read characters with some PINYIN help, and they will continue to develop their conversation skills. Students will learn to apply the rules of Chinese grammar in their writing.

Intermediate Level 1

Level 1A: 240 hours of previous instruction or equivalent knowledge

Course description:
Students will become more comfortable in oral expression, and achieve a higher level of writing abilities. They will acquire an understanding of more complex concepts in listening and reading comprehension, and will be able to develop simple texts. Students will feel confident expressing their ideas and feelings, exchanging their views and discussing aspects of culture and life in China and in Canada.

Elementary Level 4

Course duration:

Prerequisites:
Level 4A: 180 hours of previous instruction or equivalent knowledge
Level 4B: 210 hours of previous instruction or equivalent knowledge
Course description:
Students will develop their fluency and accuracy in oral expression, as well as increase their understanding of reading comprehension and the main grammar rules. Students will become familiar with more complex sentences and paragraphs. In addition to discussions of various topics and simulations of real-life situations, students will be given more exercises emphasizing the correct use of syntax and grammar rules.
